Description
Program Synopsis: Carpentry Boot Camp Vermont Construction Academy (Vermont Academy for Construction Excellence, Inc.)
The Carpentry Boot Camp is an intensive, 80-hour pre-apprenticeship and entry-level training program lasting approximately two weeks. It is designed to rapidly prepare individuals for job-site readiness and immediate employment in the construction industry, with a strong emphasis on safety, hands-on skill development, and employability.
The program uses skill-based modules that combine classroom instruction with extensive practical application. Participants earn an OSHA 10 certification as part of the curriculum.
Program Modules include:

Introduction to the Construction Industry: Career pathways, industry expectations, and traits of successful construction professionals. -
OSHA 10 & Basic Safety: OSHA 10 certification; prevention of fall, struck-by, and electrical hazards; PPE, hazard identification, and safe job-site practices. -
Construction Math & Measurement: Whole numbers, fractions, decimals, tape measures, layout, and geometry for building tasks. -
Hand Tools & Measurement: Accurate use of layout and measuring tools; safe handling and maintenance of common hand tools. -
Power Tools & Equipment: Operation of drills, saws, nail guns, and specialty tools with emphasis on safety, troubleshooting, and care. -
Hardware & Fastening Systems: Selection and use of fasteners for wood, steel, and concrete; adhesives, anchors, and structural connectors. -
Job-Site Expectations & Employability Skills: Core professional traits (Humble, Hungry, Smart); teamwork, communication, conflict resolution, ownership, discipline, and adaptability. -
Material Handling & Equipment Operations Safe material handling; forklift experience (simulator and hands-on); carts, dollies, and hoisting systems. -
Temporary Construction Methods: Building temporary stairs, railings, and weather protection; temporary heating and winter preparation. -
Hazard Control & Lift Training: Hands-on fall protection, electrical safety, and dust control; operation of scissor lifts, boom lifts, and staging systems.
This fast-paced, skills-forward boot camp delivers a practical foundation for new tradespeople seeking entry-level carpentry roles. Graduates leave prepared to contribute productively on active job sites and are well-positioned to transition into registered apprenticeship opportunities.
Often this program is offered in different time formats. In summer it is offered as a two week program. During the school year, it is also provided as a three hour, two day a week program that lasts for an entire school semester.

Vermont Construction Academy does not participate in federal Title IV aid. Qualified students may access VSAC funding, including the Vermont Trades Tuition Benefit and Advancement Grant for approved trades training. Limited scholarships may also be available, subject to donor funding. Contact Academy staff for guidance on eligibility and applications.
Refund Policy
Vermont Construction Academy provides a full refund of tuition if a written refund request is received before the third day of training. After the third day, no refunds will be issued. Requests must be submitted in writing to Academy staff. This policy applies to all programs unless otherwise stated in a specific enrollment agreement.
