Description
Certification as a Phlebotomy Technician is provided through the National Healthcare Association.
Northwest Career and Technical Center has developed a hybrid phlebotomy program that has been approved by the National Healthcare Association in order to offer the nationally approved Phlebotomy Technician Certification Preparation course and to be a testing site for the Certified Phlebotomy Technician examination. The hybrid and model encourages students to attend in person instruction, however with the help of Google Classroom, students are able to utilize the material and pace themselves when unable to attend in person. In order to sit for certification, students must attend 84 classroom hours and complete the necessary venipuncture and capillary punctures as outlined by the National Healthcare Association.
Due to the growing need for phlebotomists, Northwest Career & Technical Center has created relationships with Northwestern Medical Center and Copley Hospital in order to provide students with clinicals that will help each student gain insight and knowledge as to what working as a phlebotomist looks like. Each student will be offered up to 10 hours of clinical time with a skilled phlebotomist who will work with the student in order to answer questions, provide knowledge and demonstrate phlebotomy skills. Upon successful completion of the course, students are then eligible for interviews with the Northwestern Medical Center and Copley Hospital.
As the face of the laboratory, you will work with patients, families and other health care professionals in order to deliver quality patient care. Now more than ever is the time to join a healthcare team and be part of someone's life. Join our phlebotomy program and take the first step towards a rewarding and exciting career.
