AOT Technician III - Permitting Coordinator

at State of Vermont in Barre, Vermont, United States

Job Description

Overview

This position serves as a Permitting Coordinator in the Permitting Section at the Vermont Agency of Transportation (VTrans). The Section reviews requests to do work within the State highway right-of-way and helps ensure proposed work meets VTrans requirements.

This role focuses on reviewing, preparing, and processing routine highway permits for non-Agency related projects. You will work with property owners, businesses, municipalities, utility companies, consultant engineers, and VTrans staff to review applications and plans, gather information, prepare permits for issuance, answer questions, and keep permits moving through the process. The work includes reviewing work requests in the field, collecting field information, and participating in meetings to better understand proposed projects and help ensure permitted work meets requirements.

We are looking for someone who is organized, detail-oriented, and comfortable communicating clearly with a variety of people in person, by phone, and in writing. The ability to review plans and documents, manage multiple assignments and deadlines, communicate requirements clearly, and work both in the office and in the field is important. Experience in permitting, transportation engineering, construction, or land development is helpful.
