Job Description
Position Summary
The PMHNP provides psychiatric care to residents of a 6-bed medical respite program serving adults experiencing homelessness with co-occurring substance use, mental health, and acute medical needs. Works as part of an interdisciplinary team alongside the Lead Clinical NP, RNs, and social work staff.
Key Responsibilities
- Conduct psychiatric assessments for all admitted participants
- Manage psychotropic medication, including initiation, titration, and monitoring
- Respond to psychiatric crises and provide de-escalation and stabilization
- Deliver integrated behavioral health treatment alongside medical and SUD care
- Participate in the on-call rotation with other clinical prescribers
- Document care consistent with program clinical and SAMHSA reporting standards
Qualifications
- Board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
- Active, unrestricted Vermont NP licensure (or eligible)
- Experience with SUD, co-occurring disorders, or homeless/underserved populations preferred
- Comfortable working in a small interdisciplinary team and residential care setting
Physical Demands
- Primarily a clinical/office setting with regular standing and walking during rounds
- Must be able to respond quickly to psychiatric crises, including de-escalation situations
- Occasional assistance with patient mobility

A 6-bed residential medical respite facility in Burlington, VT, serving adults with complex medical, behavioral health, and substance use needs, working closely with an interdisciplinary clinical team.
