Job Description
Northlands Job Corps is seeking a dependable and observant Security Officer to help maintain a safe and secure environment for students, staff, visitors, facilities, and property. This position patrols assigned areas, responds to safety and security concerns, enforces center policies, and supports the appropriate resolution of disturbances and other incidents.
Essential Duties- Patrol assigned areas and remain alert for disturbances, safety hazards, traffic violations, suspicious activity, unauthorized individuals, and other unusual conditions.
- Perform routine building security and safety checks.
- Help maintain the physical security of center buildings, facilities, and property.
- Enforce applicable laws, regulations, center rules, and security procedures.
- Assist staff with de-escalating and responding to disturbances or physical altercations.
- Receive complaints, gather relevant information, and conduct appropriate preliminary investigations.
- Perform parking and traffic-control duties.
- Enforce the center’s student pass and access-control policies.
- Provide escort services as directed.
- Document incidents and communicate safety or security concerns to the appropriate staff.
- Support the center’s efforts to achieve its Outcome Measurement System goals.
- Consistently enforce the Job Corps Zero Tolerance Policy.
- Promote a positive work and learning environment by demonstrating Job Corps career success standards and core values.

Skills and Competencies- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Knowledge of security or law-enforcement procedures.
- Basic knowledge of crowd-control and emergency-response procedures.
- Ability to intervene appropriately and safely during disturbances or physical altercations.
- Strong interpersonal, mediation, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to remain calm and use sound judgment in challenging or emergency situations.
- Ability to work effectively with large groups of students, including students with disabilities or other support needs.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and similar computer applications
