Assistant Professor in Italian, Middlebury College, MIDDLEBURY, VT. The Department of Italian invites applicants for a tenure-track position in Italian beginning Fall 2027. The successful candidate will have a demonstrated commitment to excellence in Italian language teaching and a Ph.D.They must be able to teach courses in both Italian and English; teaching responsibilities include language courses and literature/culture courses at all undergraduate levels in Italian. Research specialization is open, but preference will be given to candidates who can teach courses on topics such as contemporary Italian culture and politics, immigration, representation, identity, and colonialism that might contribute to interdisciplinary programs such as Black Studies and/or Comparative Literature. The successful candidate will be expected to teach two courses per semester, and one Winter Term every other year.

As part of a full teaching load, the candidate will also regularly contribute to Middlebury's First Year Seminar Program and Winter Term course offerings. All faculty at Middlebury are also expected to contribute to service to the College including, but not limited to, committee membership and serving as Director or Chair of a Program or Department when asked.
