Job Description
OverviewThe Department of Motor Vehicles (DMV) is seeking an Assistant District Office Supervisor to support to the South Burlington branch.
The Assistant Supervisor will:
- Assist with Interviewing, hiring, and training of new staff.
- Support the direct supervisor with assigning tasks to a group of subordinate employees, monitoring their progress and assuming completion of tasks.
- Maintain knowledge of, and assures compliance with, agency/department work rules, standards of conduct and VSEA agreement.
- Act as supervisor when the direct supervisor is unavailable.
This is a working position in which the Assistant will run a customer counter and work with the general public processing license, registration, title, and driver improvement transactions. This position is required to conduct written and road exams as needed.
Environmental FactorsDuties are performed predominately in an office setting; however, exposure to the elements for long periods of time may be required. Private means of travel should be available for occasional travel when appropriate. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limits and under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary. Incumbents must be able to work quickly and accurately under pressure before the public eye and from telephone inquiries. Due to significant public contact exposure to contagious illnesses is a daily risk. Incumbents must be able to deal with confused, frustrated, and highly upset customers and handle large sums of money. Within the office setting, normal workplace conditions prevail.
