Overview

The Financial Administrator I position is within the Vermont Department of Health Business Office. The Financial Services team is seeking a detail oriented and customer service focused individual to perform procurement, employee travel, and accounts payable functions.


Duties include reviewing and processing requisitions, coordinating, and maintaining employee travel, and processing accounts payable transactions in accordance with established policies and procedures. The position requires regular interaction with program staff, vendors, and other stakeholders to ensure timely and accurate completion of assigned responsibilities.


The ideal candidate will possess strong organizational and communication skills, with demonstrated ability to interpret and apply policies, identify discrepancies, and exercise sound judgment in decision making. Attention to detail and a high degree of accuracy are essential.


The successful candidate will be able to work effectively both independently and as part of a team, managing multiple priorities while meeting deadlines with only general supervision.

• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Demonstrated customer service skills, with strong judgment and problem solving abilities.
• High level of attention to detail and strong organizational skills.
• Ability to review, interpret, and apply policies and procedures accurately and consistently.
• Strong time management skills, with the ability to prioritize multiple assignments and meet established deadlines.

Health insurance and benefits are provided. New hires must agree to a criminal background check and serve a six-month probationary period.    

 

Office hours are 7:45- 4:30 with a 45-minute unpaid lunch period.  A limited degree of flextime is afforded. The Rural Health Transformation (RHT) project is supported by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) of the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) as part of a financial assistance award totaling $195,053,740.44 with 100 percent funded by CMS/HHS.
