Job Description

LIBRARY DIRECTOR – CALEF MEMORIAL LIBRARY (Washington, VT)

The Calef Memorial Library is seeking candidates for Library Director.

The Library Director is the administrator in charge of the day-to-day operations of this small rural library.

Duties and areas of responsibility include:

Collection development and weeding
Reference
Cataloging
Technology management
Website administration
Planning and implementing programs and resources to meet patron and community needs
Data collection and reporting
Managing and training library staff, substitutes and volunteers
The library is currently open 24 hours per week.  The director could work those hours or be somewhat flexible with an assistant available to fill in for him/her.

Minimum Qualifications:

An MLS or Public Library Certification, or working toward the same
Acceptable background check
Availability during library’s regular operating hours
Familiarity with Koha ILS
The Calef Memorial Library is a town-funded library.  The historic building was erected in 1919 and recently renovated to be ADA compliant.  The director must have excellent communication skills and a high degree of computer literacy.
