Overview

This position is in the Data & Analysis Section within the Operations & Safety Bureau at the Vermont Agency of Transportation (AOT). The Analyst will work primarily with the operations and safety data, which includes, but is not limited to, crash data, other safety data, traffic data, ITS (Intelligent Transportation Systems) data, and mobility/probe data. This position will support all efforts to process and analyze the various datasets but will focus mainly on traffic data in this position, and will be responsible for knowing the life cycle of data within the bureau and what data sources are available.


Main duties will include: 

  • Processing and QA/QC of traffic data and associated metadata. Including continuous count stations, weight-in-motion sites, coverage counts, turning movement counts, bicycle & pedestrian counts, and Regional Planning Commission counts.
  • Traffic Projections: Maintain Underlying data sources and updating the ESAL calculator.
  • Bicycle/Pedestrian data management and analysis.
  • Statistical and geospatial analysis of traffic data: use of statistical and geospatial methods to analyze traffic data and associated road and network characteristics, including analysis of network coverage and geospatial methods for estimating AADT.

 

The ideal candidate will have experience with GIS, statistical analysis (Python & "R" especially helpful), geospatial analysis, querying databases, problem solving, willingness to learn, desire to take ownership of datasets, and attention to detail.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Occasional travel may be required.
