Job Description
OverviewThe Vermont Department of Health - Burlington District Office is seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic Program Technician II to support an interdisciplinary team of public health professionals working to improve the health and wellbeing of communities in Chittenden County.
This full-time, in-person position provides essential administrative support to the Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC) and plays a key role in ensuring participants receive timely and accurate program services. This position is not eligible for remote work.
What You'll Do
- Provide administrative support to WIC staff and participants, helping coordinate activities that support access to program benefits
- Complete office management tasks including ordering supplies, managing shared email and fax, sending mail, maintaining records, photocopying, and assisting with onboarding new district office staff
- Serve as the first point of contact for the district office via phone, email, and in-person interactions with families, vendors, community partners, and staff
- Deliver culturally sensitive and inclusive services, including frequent coordination of telephonic and in-person language interpretation
- Work collaboratively with team members to ensure accurate, timely, and participant-centered services

Daily work includes frequent phone calls, walk-in interactions, and managing multiple digital systems simultaneously. The ideal candidate can move seamlessly between tasks, respond to regular interruptions, maintain attention to detail, and remain calm and professional in busy or stressful situations.

Environmental Factors
Duties are performed predominately in an office setting. Private means of travel should be available for occasional travel when appropriate. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limits and under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary.
