Overview

The Vermont Department of Environmental Conservation Stormwater Program is seeking candidates for a supervisor position in the Construction and Industrial Permitting Section. This role involves oversight of the construction and industrial stormwater permitting section.

 

Primary job duties include:

  • Supervisory oversight of the construction and industrial permitting section within the Stormwater Program, including supervision of three direct reports
  • Ensuring compliance with applicable construction and industrial stormwater regulations by overseeing inspections and reporting requirements, and participating in enforcement actions and appeals as necessary;
  • Ensuring that general permits and other regulatory documents remain up to date and valid
  • Providing staff training to ensure direct reports are knowledge in applicable regulations and maintaining an awareness of industry trends and emerging technologies.
  • Environmental Factors

    Duties are largely performed in an office setting; however, some field travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation must be available. Field work may involve exposure to chemicals, gases, hazardous liquid and solid waste, and construction sites during all weather conditions; and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered on a regular basis.
