Clinical Assistant Professor in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy Program
The Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science, Occupational Therapy Program at the University of Vermont (UVM) invites applications for a full-time, 9-month clinical faculty position at the rank of Clinical Assistant Professor to begin in August 2026.
The primary responsibility of this position is to deliver high-quality instruction within the Occupational Therapy Doctorate (OTD) curriculum. Additional responsibilities include engaging in scholarly activities, contributing to service at the program, college, and/or university levels, maintaining clinical practice as appropriate, and supporting the development and coordination of student clinical education placements. Candidates must be an occupational therapist with at least 2 years of clinical practice experience as an occupational therapist, licensed or eligible for licensure in the State of Vermont, and hold a doctoral degree (O.T.D., Ph.D., Ed.D., etc.) awarded by an institution that is accredited by a USDE-recognized institutional accrediting agency. The ideal candidate will have clinical expertise in mental health practice, with additional experience in either geriatric or pediatric practice.
Preferred Qualifications:
The UVM Entry-Level Doctorate in Occupational Therapy program is a fully accredited program with state-of-the-art laboratories (https://www.uvm.edu/cnhs/rms/program/occupational-therapy). The new Smart Apartment and Pediatric & Design laboratories provide students with the opportunity to simulate real-life experiences and to practice pediatric treatments. The Plastinated Bodies laboratory consists of a variety of plastinated bodies that illustrate anatomical features to promote student learning. The program is designed with a strong experiential learning component that blends the art and science of the occupational therapy profession. It has strong community connections and also a strong relationship with the UVM Osher Center. It is an integral component of the Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science in the College of Nursing and Health Sciences.

The DepartmentThe Department of Rehabilitation and Movement Science is part of the College of Nursing and Health Sciences The successful candidate will join a department with 30 full-time tenure track, clinical faculty, lecturers and staff that are dedicated to educating the nearly 150 graduate students in the Doctor of Occupational Therapy and Doctor of Physical Therapy programs and 250 undergraduate students in the Exercise Science Major as well as 300 undergraduate students in the Emergency Medical Service and Integrative Health Minors. The department has also developed a new MS program in Exercise Science and participates in the Interprofessional Health Sciences Ph.D. program. Teaching and research facilities include a Human Motion Analysis and Functioning Laboratory, a Human Performance Center, a Whole Health Research and Practice Laboratory, and the OTD laboratories. Faculty members are funded by federal funding agencies such as the NIH and CDC to carry out cutting-edge research to identify innovative strategies to treat disease and promote health.
The Community UVM is located in Burlington, Vermont, a panoramic setting on the shores of Lake Champlain, between the Green Mountains of Vermont and the Adirondack Mountains of New York State.
