Lab Technician 2nd Shift

- 2:15 pm – 10:15 pm, Monday through Friday.
- TRAINING for 2-3 months on 1st shift, 7:00 am – 3:00 pm.
- Must pass a pre-employment drug screen and basic physical.
- Pay range for this position is $31.00 - $35.17. Rate will be based on skills and experience.

Summary: The Lab Technician performs laboratory testing of coatings and parts, as well as performs final inspection on coated parts by comparing finished product to technical plans and records data.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following:
- This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customers’ inventory and, as such, will perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage.
- Attend and Quality for CCL Certification by Metcut labs and participate in annual round robins to maintain qualification.
- Conduct Laboratory tests, review and report results based on Lab Standards, Customer Specifications, and Technical plans for parts and applied coatings.
- Perform visual inspection and effectively use mechanical measuring equipment for the inspection of coated parts.
- Read and interpret part drawings and technical plans.
- Read and interpret laboratory procedures, lab equipment manuals, and testing procedures per device.
- Record and file all laboratory test data collected per retain policy. Maintain spreadsheets of historical data for specific tests or parts for reporting and analysis.
- Qualify for (through shipping inspection hours) and subsequently perform as Designated Supplier Quality Representative (DSQR).
- File Laboratory specimens and maintain records.
- If assigned, operate BlueLight or any other measuring equipment that is needed or specified.
- Participate as an integral team member of the Quality Team by performing laboratory testing and performing Quality Technician duties, when needed or assigned.
- Complete AQM and nonconformance forms.
- Assist the Quality Manager in developing processes that will improve the operations of the lab and the Quality Management System.
- Prepare for and participate in both internal and external audits of the laboratory and production areas of the plant.
- Interface with outside vendors and internal resources to maintain and conduct equipment calibrations, preventative maintenance, and research of new equipment options.

- This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements; candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holder.
- Education – High School diploma; College courses or degree, encouraged.
- Demonstrated organizational and documentation skills.
- Experience with inspection techniques.
- Previous experience in thermal spray manufacturing and aerospace preferred.
Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of, but are not limited to, the following.
- Must be able to work in a sitting and standing position for extended periods of time in an office/industrial environment.
- Work in a brightly-lit room with concentrated chemicals and the use of machine tools.
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
- Ability to lift up to 35 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, and humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
