Job Description
OverviewThe Extradition Specialist performs professional-level administrative, planning, and coordination work for the Department of Corrections. Responsibilities include coordinating fugitive extraditions, analyzing and processing in-state warrants, managing NCIC records, conducting background checks, and providing support to the Extradition Services Manager.
The position involves working collaboratively with criminal justice partners, ensuring compliance with federal CJIS standards and NCIC requirements, and assisting with audit preparation.
Work is performed under the direction of the Extradition Services Manager and requires strong organizational skills, sound judgment, the ability to interpret and apply state and federal law, and the capacity to manage confidential criminal justice information in a fast-paced environment.
Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Some travel to facilities and other departmental offices will be required, for which private means of transportation must be available. Significant pressure may be anticipated from dealing with politically sensitive issues. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.
