Job Description
OverviewNortheast Correctional Facility in St. Johnsbury, is looking for a Facility Shift Supervisor. You will oversee daily operations and staff during their assigned shift, ensuring the safety and security of the public, staff and inmates by enforcing policies, conducting inspections, managing inmate movements and counts, resolving conflicts, and responding to emergencies .
Key responsibilities include:
- Supervising and training correctional officers
- Maintaining inmate records and facility logs
- Coordinating inmate intake and housing, and preparing reports
This role requires strong leadership, decision-making skills, and the ability to manage high-stress situations effectively. Due to shift and post bidding, this position could be placed on any shift depending upon seniority.
Class DefinitionCorrectional and supervisory work involving direction of a major section of a correctional facility during a shift. Duties include instruction, deployment and supervision of security and operations staff in accordance with established regulations, policies and procedures, and response to emergencies as required. Work is performed under the general supervision of an administrative superior.
