Job Description

The Public Drinking Water Sustainable Infrastructure and Management Program is seeking an Infrastructure Sustainability Section Supervisor. 

The Infrastructure Sustainability team supports infrastructure initiatives that improve the technical, managerial, and financial (TMF) capacity of Vermont's public water systems. The Infrastructure Sustainability Supervisor will manage a team of four Environmental Analysts that provide direct assistance, outreach, and education to public water systems, as well as manage grants and contracts that support capacity building initiatives. In addition, this team will work with EPA on the Drinking Water Infrastructure Needs Survey & Assessment (DWINSA) which will assess Vermont's and the nation's public water systems' infrastructure needs over the next 20 years. 

If you have supervisory experience and have demonstrated experience understanding and applying the Safe Drinking Water Act or other relevant rules and regulations and the ability to distill complex regulatory requirements into easy-to-understand terminology for water system personnel and the general public, this might be the right kind of job for you! 

The position requires excellent people management skills, as well as succinct communication both verbally and in writing, using a high degree of independent judgement and tact.

Duties are largely performed in an office setting; however, some field travel may be necessary for which private means of transportation must be available. Field work may involve exposure to chemicals, gases, hazardous liquid and solid waste, and construction sites during all weather conditions; and may involve traversing rough terrain and bodies of water. Some work outside of regular working hours, including attendance at public meetings, may be required. Strong differences of opinion may be encountered on a regular basis.
