Job Description

Jamaican Jewelz, LLC is seeking two (2) Cooks to work at 65 Square, Bellows Falls, Vermont 05101. The position will be full-time and seasonal during the dates of April 1, 2026 – November 1, 2026.

The role of the Cook is to Inspect and clean food preparation areas, such as equipment, work surfaces, and serving areas, to ensure safe and sanitary food-handling practices. Ensure freshness of food and ingredients by checking for quality, keeping track of old and new items, and rotating stock. Ensure food is stored and cooked at correct temperature by regulating temperature of ovens, broilers, grills, and roasters. Season and cook food according to recipes or personal judgment and experience. Turn or stir foods to ensure even cooking. Observe and test foods to determine if they have been cooked sufficiently, using methods such as tasting, smelling, or piercing them with utensils. Portion, arrange, and garnish food, and serve food to waiters or patrons. Weigh, measure, and mix ingredients according to recipes or personal judgment, using various kitchen utensils and equipment. Bake, roast, broil, and steam meats, fish, vegetables, and other foods. Wash, peel, cut, and seed fruits and vegetables to prepare them for consumption. Estimate expected food consumption, requisition or purchase supplies, or procure food from storage. Substitute for or assist other cooks during emergencies or rush periods.  Clean food preparation areas, facilities, or equipment. Inspect facilities, equipment or supplies to ensure conformance to standards. Cook foods. Check quality of foods or supplies. Assess equipment functioning. Maintain food, beverage, or equipment inventories. Arrange food for serving. Serve food or beverages. Measure ingredients. Mix ingredients. Prepare foods for cooking or serving. Coordinate activities of food service staff. Estimate supplies, ingredients, or staff requirements for food preparation activities. Order materials, supplies, or equipment. Assist chefs or caterers with food or drink preparation. Cut cooked or raw foods. Plan menu options. Prepare breads or doughs. No experience is required. Must be a team player, honest and dependable, a strong critical thinker, with good time management skills, organized and detail-oriented, independent worker and a problem solver. Has the ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds. This role uses ovens, grills, knives and mixers among other restaurant equipment. Employees could be exposed to hot water, potentially slippery floors, garbage disposals and cleaning chemicals.

Employees will work Monday-Sunday, an average of 35 hours/wk. Must be able to work any 7-hour shift within the hours of 9:00 am to 9:00 pm any day of the week, days off rotate, shifts vary.

This job requires continuous movement, regularly bending, lifting, pushing, must be flexible, be able to communicate in English and be a team player, weekends and holidays are required. No minimum education is required.

On-the-job training is provided. Jamaican Jewelz, LLC will provide workers with all tools, supplies, and equipment required to perform the job at no charge. Daily transportation to and from the worksite is not provided.

The wage is $20.72 per hour. All deductions will be made from paychecks that are required by law. No other deductions will be taken unless voluntarily agreed upon. Overtime is available at a rate of $31.08 per hour. Wages will be paid weekly on Monday, and the employer will use a single workweek as its standard for computing wages due.

This posting is being made in connection with an application for H-2B workers.

The employer will reimburse the H-2B worker in the first workweek for all visa, visa processing, border crossing, and other related fees, including those mandated by the government, incurred by the H-2B worker. If the worker completes 50% of the work contract period, the employer will reimburse the worker for transportation and subsistence from the place of recruitment to the place of work. Upon completion of the work contract or where the worker is dismissed earlier, employer will provide or pay for worker’s reasonable costs of return transportation and subsistence back home or to the place the worker originally departed to work, except where the worker will not return due to subsequent employment with another employer. The amount of transportation payment or reimbursement will be equal to the most economical and reasonable common carrier for the distance involved. Daily subsistence will be provided at a rate of $16.28 per day during travel to a maximum of $68.00 per day with receipts.

The employer does not provide housing but has secured shared housing for the H-2B worker at cost of $100 per week per worker. This amount will be deducted from the employee pay if agreed upon. This is optional and is not a condition of employment. Alternatively, the employer will assist the worker to find suitable housing within walking distance of the worksite.
