Overview

Buildings & General Services (BGS) at the State of Vermont has an opportunity with room for growth as a BGS Maintenance Specialist within the Operations & Management Division in Windsor.

 

This position will be responsible for the maintenance of our Boilers and maintenance of seasonal grounds, use of power equipment, snow removal, and salting during the winter months. This position will also work as part of a larger team that performs these duties at other state facilities within the Southeast district. Travel between these facilities may be required and will utilize a state-owned vehicle.

 

The ideal candidate will have oil certification and/or gas certification, and knowledge in boiler repairs and service.


This is a full-time position, and the hours are Monday through Friday, 6am to 2:30pm. Position requires a valid driver's license and successful completion of multiple background checks.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed at state buildings including correctional and mental health facilities. Contact with inmates may be anticipated. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Must be able to climb ladders, lift weights up to 75 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Work in all types of weather should be anticipated. Position requires possession of a valid driver's license. Some potential for physical injury may be present.
