GALVION JOB DESCRIPTION

 

Job Title:                         Manufacturing Operator I

Status:                             Hourly – Non-Exempt

Hours/Work Days:          40 hours per week (Monday through Friday)

                                        1st Shift – 7:00am-3:00pm

                                        2nd Shift – 3:00pm-11:00pm

                                        3rd Shift – 11:00pm-7:00am

Location:                           Newport, VT

PRIMARY EMPLOYMENT OBJECTIVES

The Manufacturing Associate I is an entry-level position.  Responsible to work in one area such as Assembly, Cutting, Edge-Blast-Drill, Finish, Cosmetic Conformance, Mold, Paint, Staple, Trim and other areas on the production floor. This position plays a key role in ensuring that all production activities to meet established quality standards, written work instructions, and safety guidelines while maintaining a safe and efficient work environment.

 

SPECIFIC ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

 

  • Assembly: Assist in assembling components and ensuring the final product meets specifications. 
  • Cutting: Operate cutting tables and other cutting machinery to ensure material is cut to the proper template or program.
  • Edge-Blast-Drill: Perform laser, edge-blasting and/or drilling operations on product to prepare them for further processing.
  • Cosmetic Conformance: ensure product meets specifications prior to next step in the process.  Sanding, filling, trim fibers and cleaning to confirm the proper specifications are met.
  • Finish: Apply finishing techniques, including polishing, sanding, or coating, to ensure high-quality final products.
  • Mold: Operate 2 presses at any given time.
  • Paint: Mix and apply paint or coating to products using manual or automated systems, ensuring uniform coverage and finish to meet written requirements.
  • Staple & Trim: Perform stapling, trimming, and other finishing tasks to products.
  • Using established procedures and working under immediate supervision, follows exact work instructions indicating specific finish, style and quality control requirements of the product to be produced.
  • Achieve acceptable daily output
  • Inspects products to approved quality standards for cosmetic appearance.
  • Care and proper use of dies, instruments, tools and documented equipment as instructed
  • Reports production data such as parts completed, downtime, nonconformance
  • Other activities as assigned to support the area safety, quality and delivery requirements.
  • Performs all quality control checks.
  • Participates in inventory counts and supplies and reports back material needs.
  • Follow all work instructions, ensuring compliance with written procedures, quality standards, and any directives from supervisors or leads.
  • Adhere to 5S housekeeping standards to maintain a clean and organized work area, contributing to overall workplace safety and efficiency.
  • Comply with all safety rules and regulations to ensure a safe work environment at all times.
  • Be flexible in performing new assignments and miscellaneous duties as required by the Team Lead or supervisor, including supporting team members in other areas as needed.
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

Qualifications:

  • Good attention to detail and the ability to perform tasks accurately and efficiently.
  • Willingness to work in a team environment and collaborate with colleagues.
  • Flexibility to work in different departments and perform various tasks.
  • Understanding of basic manufacturing processes and equipment operation.
  • Safety-conscious with a commitment to maintaining a safe work environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to perform visual inspections for cosmetic defects per inspection criteria.
  • Ability to work in a manufacturing environment and rotate workstations.

 

Knowledge, Skill & Experience Requirements

  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
  • Quality Control and Quality Inspection experience is a plus.
  • Must have high level of attention to detail
  • Communication skills to participate in discussions and provide ideas, feedback and suggestions for process improvements. 
  • Dependable – Consistently coming to work daily and conforming to scheduled worked hours.
  • Must be good with basic math and capable of writing legibly to fulfill documentation of production quantities on work orders. Recording numbers and completing paperwork accurately is important.
  • Mechanically inclined
  • Cooperative- Ability to work in a team environment and assist co-workers in various roles within the manufacturing department. Flexibility

Work Environment (include physical requirements)

  • Manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to perform repetitive tasks.
  • Some positions require the ability to lift and move up to 35 pounds required.
  • Eye protection is required; hearing and respiratory protection may be required.
  • Some positions require the need to be able to stand for long periods of time
