Job Description
OverviewThe Dietary Division at the Vermont Veterans' Home (VVH) is currently seeking to hire full-time VVH Food Service Workers.
The duties will include food preparation, set-up and break-down of dining areas, delivery of food to the various units in the facility, participating in the operations of the food line, stocking supplies, washing dishes and pots/pans, cleaning and sanitizing the kitchen area, and other related tasks.
VVH has openings on the 6:00 am to 2:30 pm shift and the 11:30 am to 8:00 pm shift; both shifts include working weekends and holidays.
Environmental FactorsWork is performed in an institution kitchen during an assigned shift. Incumbents may deliver food carts to various dining areas. Hazards include work with utensils and equipment typically found in a commercial kitchen environment, which include but not limited to, electrical and gas-fueled equipment, ovens, and chemicals used in cleaning. Frequent exposure to hot food items, serving trays, and heated equipment; sharp knives and slicers; cold from walk-in refrigerators and freezers and confining work areas. Duties require and exposure to high heat and humidity.
Direct interaction with residents is extensive, leading to potential exposure to infectious disease or physical injury.
