Job Description
OverviewVermont Emergency Management (VEM) is looking for a mission-driven professional to join our Hazard Mitigation Team. This position will support Vermont communities in developing and implementing Local Hazard Mitigation Plans in coordination with FEMA, Vermont's regional planning commissions, and private consultants. Additionally, this position will support planning efforts across the state related to Vermont's resilience to natural hazards, including updating the State Hazard Mitigation Plan.
This position will work under the supervision of the Hazard Mitigation Supervisor and participates in VEM Emergency Operation Center activations, trainings, and Division-wide activities as appropriate. The full job specification can be viewed here.
The State of Vermont offers flexible telework. The person hired for this position will be expected to live in Vermont with the ability to be in-office three days per week starting in December of 2025.
Environmental FactorsNormal office conditions generally prevail with some required travel to various localities throughout the State. Private means of transportation should be available. Emergency management drills and actual emergencies may require performance outside of normal hours. Position may require availability after regular working hours in the case of actual emergencies. On-call status may be required.
