Public Health Analyst II - Temporary

Job Description

The Vermont Department of Health (VDH) is looking to hire a temporary Public Health Analyst II. The position requires understanding and analysis of data for topics across the public health spectrum, as well as an understanding of data management principles, data systems, and data governance. This position is expected to provide analysis and interpretation of data; develop data products of varied complexity, and respond to internal and external data requests. The position may also provide survey development and implementation support, along with any other related duties as required.

This position operates under the Health Statistics and Informatics Director to support the analytic programs within the division. The work will be project based and the person hired into the role will have a chance to work with multiple staff across multiple teams. The position will be based in Waterbury but eligible for a hybrid work schedule. 

Expertise in Microsoft Office, statistical analysis software (SAS, R, SPSS, etc.) is required and expertise with data visualization software (PowerBI) is preferred. 

Duties are performed primarily in a standard office setting. Meetings with data users and providers may require some travel, for which private means of transportation must be available. Some work outside of normal office hours may be required.
