Job Description
OverviewBuildings & General Services at the State of Vermont has an exciting opportunity with room for growth as a BGS Maintenance Specialist. This position will be responsible for buildings, facilities, and grounds maintenance for the Northwest District in the greater St. Albans area. The ideal candidate will have a current Journeyman's electrician license.
This full-time position will work Moday through Friday, 7am to 3:30pm. A valid driver's license and successful completion of multiple background checks are required.
The Department of Buildings and General Services (BGS) is a diverse organization with over 340 employees serving state agencies and department within State Government. BGS provides the facilities services required for all state agencies and departments to accomplish their missions. Starting salary may be negotiable based on experience and qualifications.
Environmental FactorsDuties are performed at state buildings including correctional and mental health facilities. Contact with inmates may be anticipated. Incumbents may encounter harassment or hostile behavior and must be able to respond in a calm and professional manner. Must be able to climb ladders, lift weights up to 75 pounds, and work in cramped, wet, or poorly ventilated areas. Standing, bending, kneeling, crawling, and sitting for extended periods of time may be required. Work in all types of weather should be anticipated. Position requires possession of a valid driver's license. Some potential for physical injury may be present.
