Overview

The Vermont Department of Health Bennington District Office is seeking a highly organized and enthusiastic individual to serve as our full-time Program Technician II. The right candidate will join an interdisciplinary team of public health professionals that is focused on making a positive impact on the health and well-being of communities in Bennington County, Vermont.

 

The position primarily provides administrative support to the Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants, and Children (WIC), and the ideal candidate will work closely with WIC staff to complete administrative activities that support WIC participants receiving program benefits. Accuracy, timeliness, and a team approach are critical. The Program Technician II position requires attention to detail and the ability to move seamlessly among various tasks with regular interruptions. 

 

This position is responsible for office management duties such as ordering supplies, sending mail, managing the district office shared email and fax, records management, photocopying, and supporting the onboarding of district office staff.

 

The position also serves as the face of the Bennington District Office--via phone, email, and face-to-face encounters with the public, stores that offer WIC foods, community agencies, and staff. Stellar internal and external customer service skills are required, which include providing culturally sensitive and inclusive services. Maintaining a calm demeanor in stressful situations is key to success in this position. The Program Technician II should also understand and recognize the importance of adhering to federal and state guidelines. The Program Technician II position is not eligible for remote work.

Environmental Factors

Duties are performed predominately in an office setting. Private means of travel should be available for occasional travel when appropriate. Incumbents must be adaptable and able to work within tight time limits and under considerable stress. Some evening and weekend duty may be necessary.
