OverviewWho We Are:
The Economic Services Division (ESD) is responsible for the administration of economic benefits to help Vermonters meet their basic needs. ESD is one of 6 divisions under the Department for Children and Families (DCF) which is one of the largest departments (1000 employees) within the largest agency (Agency of Human Services) in the state of Vermont.
ESD Leadership recognizes that the division's biggest resource is our staff and is committed to continuously looking at ways to strengthen and support our workforce.
This position is located in the St. Johnsbury district office, which is recognized for its strong sense of teamwork, close community connections, friendly office vibe, and a shared commitment to supporting each other and Vermonters in need.
The Role:
Reach Up is one of ESD's benefits programs. It provides financial assistance and coaching services for Vermont families meeting income eligibility criteria. The program's mission is "Reach Up joins families on their journey to overcome obstacles, explore opportunities, improve their finances and reach their goals". Reach Up Case Managers (RUCM) provide mission-driven coaching to help families identify and meet their goals.
ESD is looking for someone to join this team who:
· will collaborate with families in a strength-based way through a coaching model
· has experience working with individuals and families who may be under extreme stress, have complex needs and experiencing poverty, while simultaneously seeing the potential and strengths in every family

Environmental FactorsDuties are performed in a community based setting and a standard office setting with travel to participating families' homes, work sites or other community locations and to meetings for which incumbents may be required to use either a state-provided vehicle or a private means of transportation. Considerable stress may be encountered in working with families in crisis, implementing mandated work activities in prescribed time frames and in potentially confrontational situations. Workload is usually heavy with a constant need for prompt accurate decisions. Incumbents must be able to work independently.
