We’re looking for an Accounting Manager – a detail-oriented, organized, and mission-driven professional who will oversee the financial operations that keep Tri-Valley Transit (TVT) moving forward. Your work will ensure accuracy, transparency, and compliance in all aspects of our financial management while supporting a team committed to providing safe, reliable, accessible, and affordable transportation services for our communities.

What You’ll Do:

  • Oversee all accounting department operations, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, and general ledger functions.
  • Assist in preparation of accurate and timely financial statements.
  • Ensure compliance with GAAP, federal and state regulations, and federal and state grant requirements.
  • Support budgeting, forecasting, and variance analysis processes; assist department managers with budget tracking.
  • Monitor and reconcile grants, restricted funds, and other specialized accounts.
  • Assist with the annual audit process and liaise with external auditors.
  • Aid in the development, documentation, and improvement of business processes and accounting policies to strengthen internal controls and operational efficiency.
  • Supervise, mentor, and train accounting staff; assist with performance evaluations and foster a collaborative, high-performing work environment.
  • Collaborate with other departments to support organizational goals and strategic decision-making.
  • Use data analysis to identify trends, improve processes, and inform leadership decisions.

Required Skills & Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field.
  • At least 5 years of progressive accounting experience, with 2+ years in a supervisory or management role.
  • Strong knowledge of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and financial reporting standards. and internal controls.
  • Experience managing federal and state grant funding, including compliance and reporting, a plus.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (QuickBooks, Sage, NetSuite, or similar) and advanced Microsoft Excel skills; MIP experience a plus.
  • Excellent analytical, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Strong leadership and team-building capabilities.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced setting.
  • Ability to pass all required background checks.

Pay: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 per year
