Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries' Fab 9 (Essex, VT) is seeking an experienced, skilled, and motivated Site Services Facilities Technician. This individual will play a key role in executing preventive and corrective maintenance across the GlobalFoundries Essex and Williston campuses, as well as supporting campus improvement projects. This position reports to the Northeast Site Services Manager.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Follow detailed instructions and procedures to complete tasks.

  • Perform work activities safely and responsibly in accordance with all FAB9 EHS&S policies.

  • Work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.

  • Support and participate in training activities.

  • Complete preventive and corrective maintenance work orders as required.

  • Perform routine general maintenance tasks safely.

  • Collaborate with team members to achieve shared goals.

Essential Functions - Physical Capacity Demands

(Employees must be able to perform these essential functions, with or without accommodation):

  • Stand for more than 85% of an 8-hour shift (excluding breaks).

  • Walk on uneven surfaces for more than 85% of an 8-hour shift.

  • Lift, pull, and/or carry at least 50 pounds periodically throughout the shift.

  • Lift equipment and tools during maintenance activities (two-person lift required for items over 50 lbs).

  • Manually manipulate hand tools and small hardware for more than 85% of an 8-hour shift.

  • Perform physical activities such as climbing ladders, bending, stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, and crawling for more than 85% of an 8-hour shift.

  • Work in a cleanroom environment per semiconductor protocol/requirements.

  • Wear cleanroom clothing and upgraded PPE (e.g., safety shoes, glasses, chemical splash apron and gloves, full-face shield) as required.

  • Remain compliant with OSHA & NIOSH standard CFR 29 1910.134 (clean-shaven) to wear N95 masks or full-face respirators for extended periods (>2 hours).

  • Actively participate in continuous improvement projects and skills development aligned with GlobalFoundries Core Values.

  • Use basic hand tools and apply quality workmanship principles.

  • Demonstrate a basic understanding of electrical and mechanical systems.


Other Responsibilities

  • Perform all activities safely and responsibly.

  • Support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.


Required Qualifications

  • Education: High School Diploma or equivalent.

  • Experience: At least 2 years of relevant experience in one of the following areas: automotive repair, BOCES, HVAC, aviation, cable installation, computer routing, building maintenance, electrical work, etc.

  • Travel: Minimal.

  • Language: English (written and verbal).

  • Basic reading, writing, and computer navigation skills (Windows, Microsoft Office, Outlook).

  • Ability to work in a cleanroom environment and stand for extended periods.

  • Ability to lift equipment and tools (two-person lift for items over 50 lbs).

  • Flexibility to work any shift (3-4 days per week, alternating day/night shifts).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Strong planning and organizational skills.

  • Familiarity or experience working at the Essex location.

  • Commitment to team success and well-being over individual achievements.

Expected Salary Range
$41,400.00 - $67,200.00
