Job Description
OverviewThis Assistant State Fire Marshal position focuses on public education and outreach, with key responsibilities that include supporting Community Risk Reduction programs and Vermont’s 802 Smoke and Carbon Monoxide initiatives. The role involves event setup and equipment transport for public outreach activities, as well as delivering public education through presentations and community engagement.
Environmental FactorsDuties are performed in both standard office and field settings. Class incumbents may encounter a wide range of physical conditions while inspecting buildings or construction sites. Considerable travel is required for which private means of transportation shall be available. Strong and differing opinions will be encountered on a regular basis. Emergencies may require work outside of normal work schedule. Field duties may require work in contaminated environments and may require protective clothing and equipment.
