Summary of Role:

GlobalFoundries Fab9, the world leader in RF semiconductor manufacturing in Essex Junction, VT, is seeking a Sr. Factory Automation / Manufacturing Engineer. The individual selected for this position will be part of the Fab9 AMHS Engineering organization with primary responsibilities focused on the Fab9 transformational initiative to automate wafer load/unload of fab manufacturing process equipment.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Develop and lead projects to achieve area-by-area readiness ahead of mobile robot deployments for innovative/transformational wafer load/unload enablement initiative

  • Drive and/or support other Manufacturing Engineering initiatives as required

  • Establish and manage equipment/facilities project plans including schedules and budgets

  • Integrate work activities for cross-functional teams including Automation Engineering, Module Engineering, Operations, Facilities, EHSS, Change Review Board, robotic equipment OEMs

  • Utilize 3rd-party automation simulation models and CAD tools to design and validate automation areas

  • Conduct cost-benefit analyses (eg., ROIs) and make informed business recommendations

  • Conduct risk assessments (eg FMEA) and make informed business recommendations

  • Perform all activities in a safe and responsible manner and support all Environmental, Health, Safety & Security requirements and programs.

  • Other duties as assigned by manager

Required Qualifications:

  • Education: BS in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering, or other relevant discipline

  • Experience: 2+ years of industry experience

  • Demonstrated mechanical aptitude, interest and inclination towards hands on engineering; ability to understand/affect complex systems

  • Demonstrated ability to develop and lead technical projects in a manufacturing environment

  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and efficiently with diverse teams, customers, internal and external partners.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively manage multiple concurrent projects and timelines

  • Excellent/proficient communication skills - Written and Verbal)

  • Excellent documentation and technical presentation skills

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in semiconductor Manufacturing/Process/Equipment Engineering and Fab Operations

  • Knowledge of semiconductor/silicon processing and clean room fundamentals

  • Experience and proficiency with CAD design software (eg. AutoCAD)

  • Experience and proficiency with mechanical/automation simulation modeling tools

  • Experience with factory automation and/or robotics, particularly new system deployment and start-up

  • Experience in converting manual (human-based) operations to automated systems

Expected Salary Range
$65,400.00 - $145,800.00
