Technical Support Specialist



Posting Summary
Provide general and specialized assistance to the services branch of the Office of Accessibility Services (OAS) and Student Accessibility Services (SAS) for students with disabilities. Respond to, troubleshoot, and resolve services-related inquiries and quality control matters; assist with design, development and modification of processes and facilitate system/user specific modifications. Support the OAS/SAS office to coordinate disability services for students to include electronic books, note taking, captioning, and adaptive tech programs. Coordinate day-to-day management and application of various services and adaptive technologies used to ensure that students with disabilities receive the necessary accommodations to access University coursework, programs, and facilities.

Maintain knowledge of federal regulations, the ADA, Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act and FERPA to maintain support for faculty/staff and students with accessibility needs. Provide support to administer services-related aspects of the Clockwork & Accommodate databases and supervise work-study students in the Universal Design Technology Lab (UDTL). Support remote TypeWell, accommodation-based audio/video recordings of classes, and represent OAS/SAS at campus events/presentations. Develop workshops and activities to provide students and staff information on adaptive technologies.

Work with staff, faculty, and students to interpret and communicate service-related processes and applications around the University to improve accessibility. Assist in development and maintenance of the myACCESS Portal, the services-related aspects of the OAS/SAS website, development of department brochures, and training sessions for students.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

Bachelor's degree in related field and one to three years related experience required. Effective organizational and time management skills, attention to detail, and ability to maintain confidentiality of information required. Effective interpersonal skills, including strong written and verbal communication abilities, customer service skills, and problem-solving abilities required. Knowledge of word-processing and database management, computer and database services, and online management and learning systems required.

Desirable Qualifications


Anticipated Pay Range
24.61-28.20/hr (approx. $48,000 - $55,000/yr)

Occasional evening and/or weekends required (if non-exempt position, may result in overtime), Bargaining unit position, A probationary period may be required, This position is eligible for a hybrid schedule with an option to split time between campus and elsewhere, in accordance with the university telecommuting policy, Background Check required for this position
