Quality Technician

Due to the nature of our business and heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive.
The salary for this position starts at $22.00. The rate will be commensurate with experience.
Summary: Quality Technician performs final inspection on coated parts by comparing finished product with the technical plan.
Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following.
- This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and, as such, will perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage.
- Perform all Visual and Mechanical inspections of thermal and dry film-lubed spray parts.
- Identify any and all nonconformance prior to release of product.
- Read and interpret drawings and tech plans.
- Effectively use basic mechanical measuring equipment.
- Complete AQM and nonconformance forms.
- Qualify for and subsequently perform as a Designated Supplier Quality Representative (DSQR) acting on behalf of the customer.
- Perform all inspection testing functions.
- File thickness and surface roughness specimens.
- If assigned, operate Coordinate Measuring Machine, Runout, and Bluelight equipment.
- Maintain resources and reorder as needed.
- Assist others as directed by the Quality Manager.
- Strictly observed all environmental, health, and safety policy requirements.
- Keep the work area neat and orderly at all times.
- Wear all required personal protective equipment when and where required.
- Report safety events, unsafe conditions, near misses, etc., to the Shift Lead immediately.

- This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
- Education – High School diploma.
- Experience with inspection techniques.
- Team player.
- Basic math skills.
- Flexible schedule required, overtime required when necessary.
- Good mechanical dexterity.
- Organized and detailed.
- Ability to read and understand work instructions.
- Integrity and assertiveness.
- Experience in thermal spray operations preferred.
Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of, but are not limited to, the following.
- Must be able to work in a sitting and standing position for extended periods in an office/industrial environment.
- Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
- Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
- Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
- May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
- Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
- Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
- Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
- Ability to hear in person and via phone.
