Quality Technician

Due to the nature of our business and heavy industrial market, Bodycote deems this position to be safety-sensitive.

The salary for this position starts at $22.00.  The rate will be commensurate with experience.

Summary: Quality Technician performs final inspection on coated parts by comparing finished product with the technical plan. 

Essential Job Functions (Duties and Responsibilities): The primary duties consist of, but are not limited to, the following.

• This position is responsible for the care and treatment of our customer’s inventory and, as such, will perform duties safely and responsibly to prevent customer loss or damage.
• Perform all Visual and Mechanical inspections of thermal and dry film-lubed spray parts.
• Identify any and all nonconformance prior to release of product.
• Read and interpret drawings and tech plans.
• Effectively use basic mechanical measuring equipment.
• Complete AQM and nonconformance forms.
• Qualify for and subsequently perform as a Designated Supplier Quality Representative (DSQR) acting on behalf of the customer.
• Perform all inspection testing functions.
• File thickness and surface roughness specimens.
• If assigned, operate Coordinate Measuring Machine, Runout, and Bluelight equipment.
• Maintain resources and reorder as needed.
• Assist others as directed by the Quality Manager.
• Strictly observed all environmental, health, and safety policy requirements.
• Keep the work area neat and orderly at all times.
• Wear all required personal protective equipment when and where required.
• Report safety events, unsafe conditions, near misses, etc., to the Shift Lead immediately.

• This position must satisfy ITAR compliance requirements, therefore, candidates must be U.S. Citizens or Permanent Resident Card Holders.
• Education – High School diploma.
• Experience with inspection techniques.
• Team player.
• Basic math skills.
• Flexible schedule required, overtime required when necessary.
• Good mechanical dexterity.
• Organized and detailed.
• Ability to read and understand work instructions.
• Integrity and assertiveness.
• Experience in thermal spray operations preferred.

Physical & Mental Demands: The following physical and mental demands consist of, but are not limited to, the following.

• Must be able to work in a sitting and standing position for extended periods in an office/industrial environment.
• Manual dexterity to perform data entry functions.
• Ability to bend, pull, stoop, and reach to perform functions.
• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• May be exposed to heat, fumes, noise, humidity, etc.
• Must have the cognitive and mental capacity to perform essential job functions.
• Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing.
• Visual acuity to read documents, computer screens, files, etc.
• Ability to hear in person and via phone.
