Job Description
The Monitoring Technician is responsible for ongoing surveillance of patient cardiac monitors and provides RN’s and/or clinicians with immediate notification of any changes in cardiac rhythms. The technician delivers telemetry to units.
Minimum Education
+ High School Graduate or Equivalent required.
+ Successful completion of Basic EKG/Arrhythmia & Dysrhythmia Courses within 90 days of hire.
Minimum Work Experience
+ 1 year Monitor Technician experience in a hospital setting preferred
+ CMT, or Cardiac experience in related field preferred.
Required Licenses/Certifications
+ BLS Certification through American Heart Association.
+ National Monitor Certification (Certified Rhythm Analysis Technician (CRAT)) required within 12 months in position, from Cardiovascular Credentialing International (CCI), preferred.
Required Skills, Knowledge, and Abilities
+ Ability to quickly make decisions to report patient condition with minimal supervision.
+ Ability to remain focused and maintains concentration over extended period of time.
+ Demonstrated ability to interpret cardiac rhythms and arrhythmias.
+ Demonstrated moderate knowledge of medical terminology
+ Ability to move or lift equipment.
+ Demonstrated moderate knowledge of basic computer skills.
