Assistant Director of Emergency Management and Accreditation Williams College is a coeducational liberal arts institution located in the Berkshire Hills of western Massachusetts with access to the culturally rich cities of Albany, Boston, and New York City. The College is committed to building and supporting a diverse population of approximately 2,000 students, and to fostering an inclusive faculty, staff of over 1,300. Williams has built its reputation on outstanding teaching, scholarship, and academic excellence from its students. The College seeks a full-time Assistant Director of Campus Safety Services (CSS). The Assistant Director of Campus Safety Services will support the director by providing administrative leadership of departmental support functions to maintain a safe and secure learning and work environment that is supportive of the educational goals of Williams College. The Assistant Director will be responsible for managing programs within CSS to support the operations of the department. The Assistant Director will be primarily responsible for management of the Emergency Preparedness program and the department’s IACLEA (International Association of Campus Law Enforcement Administrators) Accreditation. Additional responsibilities include managing human and fiscal resources related to campus safety and security, with direct supervisory responsibility of the Communications Supervisor. The Assistant Director will oversee staff recruitment, training, and development; will design and develop new programs, review current training curriculum and have the opportunity to implement educational awareness programs for the broader campus community. This complex role requires maintaining strong collegial relations with all campus constituencies as well as with local officials and law enforcement, fire and emergency medical service providers. Qualifications: The successful applicant must have experience working effectively on matters of safety and emergency preparedness with a diverse population and a strong track record of effective leadership experience. A minimum of five years experience in a public safety or security-related role is required. Familiarity and interest in working with college-age students is strongly preferred as is a commitment to the principles of diversity and inclusion. Applicants should possess a Bachelor’s degree or the equivalent combination of education and experience in safety and security. Computer expertise, oral and written communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively and positively with others are essential. Experience relating well to people from diverse backgrounds; sensitivity to group differences; demonstrated understanding of DEI issues. Valid driver’s license required.
