POSITION SUMMARY:

Performs electrical or mechanical troubleshooting to determine problems in non-functioning electro-mechanical equipment used in the manufacturing process. Dismantles, adjusts, repairs and assembles equipment according to layout plans, blueprints, operating or repair manuals, rough sketches or drawings. Uses test and diagnostic equipment to perform checkouts. Rebuilds manufacturing equipment as required. May perform equipment modifications as directed by manufacturing engineers. May participate in safety forums, Emergency Response Teams and station improvement teams.

SKILL: Applies acquired job skills and company policies and procedures to complete assigned tasks.

JOB COMPLEXITY: Works on assignments that are semi-routine in nature but recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practice.

SUPERVISION: Normally follows established procedures on routine work; requires instructions only on new assignments.

EXPERIENCE: Typically requires a minimum of 1 – 2 years of related experience.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:

+ Responsible for using test and diagnostic equipment to perform troubleshooting of a limited to moderate scope.

+ Responsible for fulfilling predetermined departmental quality, safety, quantity and team work requirements and may be required to recommend improvements for meeting departmental quality, safety, quantity and teamwork requirements.

+ Follows established procedures on routine work and requires instructions only on new assignments

+ Discusses technical problems encountered with supervisor or engineering personnel.

+ May provide assistance to more senior technicians and engineers in the rebuilding of manufacturing equipment.

+ May perform equipment modifications as directed by supervisors, managers and engineers.

+ May collect and evaluate operating and process data, and recognizes the need for occasional deviation from accepted practices.

+ May also perform training of peers and limited process and operational improvement.

+ May participate in safety forums, Emergency Response Teams and station improvement teams.

+ Works from formal and informal written/verbal instructions, specifications, technical manuals and engineering sketches.

+ Works closely with engineers and senior technicians.

+ Trained in proper handling of chemicals and hazardous waste.

+ Required participation in 24/7, seven day on-call program.

+ Ability to work mandatory overtime as required in supporting manufacturing effort.

QUALIFICATIONS:

REQUIRED:

+ High school degree or equivalent and 1-2 years of related experience.

+ Basic computer skills including the use of standard office software, including Word, Excel and Outlook.

+ Ability to work effectively as a member of a diverse team, as well as individually.

+ Strong verbal and written communication skills.

+ Must be highly organized.

+ Must be a self-starter.

+ Must be able to follow written and verbal instructions.

+ Must be a fast-learner.

+ Must be able to be trained in proper handling of chemicals and hazardous waste.

DESIRED:

+ Associate’s degree or higher.

+ Basic understanding of Statistical Process Control (SPC).

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

+ Standing or walking, use of hands to finger, handling, feeling, reaching with hands and arms, kneeling, crouching or crawling over two-thirds of the time.

+ Lifting up to 25 lbs over two-thirds of the time.

+ Must have normal color vision and must be able to identify wiring color codes.

WORK ENVIRONMENT:

+ Works in wafer fabrication and clean room environment, requiring clean room gowning (smock, hood, gloves, booties, etc.)

+ Exposure to moderate noise levels.

+ Exposure to stored energy hazards (electricity, compressed gases, etc.)

+ Works in a facility that houses hazardous chemicals.

OTHER:

+ Other duties as may be assigned.
