The University of Vermont (UVM) seeks outstanding candidates for a visiting teaching professor position in the area of power/energy systems. Successful candidates are expected to hold a graduate degree in electrical engineering or related field and to be able to offer courses at the undergraduate and graduate levels in, e.g., energy conversion (motors & transformers), power electronics, power systems analysis, renewable energy integration and/or smart grid technology. The anticipated start date is Fall 2021.
The Electrical Engineering Program values teaching highly and prides itself on its hands-on and flexible curriculum. Thus, the successful candidate is encouraged and will be supported to incorporate, e.g., problem-based learning, projects, and/or labs in their classes. The successful candidate is expected to offer one undergraduate and one graduate course per semester leaving opportunities for the hire to further develop their scholarly interests. For example, there is opportunity to interact with ongoing departmental research in renewable energy integration, work sponsored by DOE, ARPA-E, NSF, and NIST. This visiting position will be a one-year contract, with potential for renewing.
