Senior Underwriter

Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Vermont is looking for a Senior Underwriter to join our Underwriting team. The Senior Underwriter is responsible for underwriting activities and decisions for complex group accounts. This positions requires a strong knowledge of the following areas:

• Computing rates for both renewing and prospective complex group accounts  
• Preparing financial reports illustrating rate calculations
• Providing expense estimates and accurate analysis of financial exhibits 
• Providing guidance and expertise to less experienced underwriters
• Assisting with the development and maintenance of the experience rating systems
• Advising customers regarding appropriate financing arrangements
• Ensuring established review protocols are followed
• Assisting in the training of new and more junior staff members
