Advertising CopyThe Department of Medicine in the Robert Larner, M.D. College of Medicine at the University of Vermont seeks a full time, tenure-track faculty member at the Assistant Professor level. Applicants must have a Ph.D. in Population Health or equivalent degree in related fields such as Epidemiology, Psychology, Public Health, or Data Science. Preference will be given to those with experience in global population health or dissemination and implementation science.
Description of the Position: Global population health focuses on achieving better health outcomes for vulnerable populations and communities around the world. The study and practice global health work aim to eliminate health disparities in low-resource settings around the world through research, education and collaborative intervention. Global population health emphasizes a broad, multidisciplinary approach to understanding emerging health challenges that considers the social, cultural, economic and environmental contexts that underpin health inequities. Candidates with knowledge and experience of dissemination and implementation science or data science methods are of particular interest.
We seek a researcher with skills in global population health and epidemiology to help grow the science and extramural funding of cancer and chronic disease prevention. This position will build on an existing research program focused on cervical cancer prevention in under-served populations; principally, this will include but not be limited to: 1) collaboration on a dissemination and implementation science research project in the Peruvian Amazon that aims to promote adoption of an HPV -based screen and treat model for cervical cancer screening; and 2) research on HPV vaccination in rural Vermont. The position is funded for three years, followed by partial funding for two additional years to support the time necessary to successfully compete for extramural funding. Successful applicants will be offered membership in the University of Vermont Cancer Center.
