What You Will Do :
The Energy Sustainability & Infrastructure (ES&I) Analytics team is seeking an analytics consultant with proven experience in forward-looking electric load analyses (e.g., load forecasting, load modifier – such as EV or DERs – forecasting), and empirical techniques used for evaluating the impacts of demand response, dynamic pricing, and energy efficiency. The ideal candidate will have experience with various approaches to load forecasting and in addressing major industry changes, such as adoption of distributed energy resources and electrification scenarios; will have expertise in time-series regression analysis, analysis of historical weather and extreme-weather scenarios, development of load profiles; experience evaluating utility pilots and programs; the ability to independently scope and lead technical workstreams; and strong client-facing communications. This position will be part of a team supporting the design, development and delivery of innovative advanced platform-based data and analytics capabilities and solutions to address a wide variety of energy client needs. Our primary tools include R, Git, Snowflake, and MS Excel, and, to a lesser extent, Python, Analytica, AWS, Azure, MS SQL, Shiny, and ArcGIS.
Working with clients to understand and formalize their needs, developing (with supervision) scopes of work and budgets, and leading small teams (1 – 4) of junior staff in completing this work, related to the transformation and remediation of legacy load forecasting processes, the development of innovative forward-looking analyses intended to support electricity system planning, and evaluating utility programs and pilots. Common responsibilities may include:
+ Review and assess existing methods for load forecasting or forecasting other inputs to load planning (e.g., EVs, DERs, etc.) and develop improvements to these methods to deliver more accurate outputs.
+ Develop improvements or recommend changes to deliver more accurate outputs for client forecasts, while working to minimize disruption to client workflows.
+ Developing and executing plans for evaluations of the impacts of utility programs and pilots (e.g., demand response, dynamic pricing, energy efficiency, electrification, etc.)
+ Developing R code to develop long-term load forecasts or impact evaluations and carefully documenting that code to ensure its useability by third parties.
+ Documenting methods and outcomes in PowerPoint, Word, and Excel for the purposes of presenting to client managers, approval committees, regulator staff, and other stakeholders.
What You Will Need :
+ Four to eight years of experience with electricity load forecasting and/or impact evaluation
+ Industry experience with utilities, load forecasting, distributed energy resources
+ Demonstrated experience managing projects, clients, teams and individuals
+ Master’s (or Bachelor’s with significant work experience) in Data Science, Economics, Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Engineering, or other analytics fields
+ Understanding of, and experience with R (and R’s “Tidyverse” packages) and MS Excel
+ Outstanding problem-solving skills and critical thinking
+ Excellent written and spoken communication skills; ability to simply convey complex concepts
+ Strong organizational and time-management skills
+ Self-confidence and determination; ability to self-teach and willingness to acknowledge and learn from mistakes
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a team
+ Ability to provide guidance, coaching, training
+ Selected Candidate must be able to work Eastern Standard Hours.
+ This is an exempt level role that may require more than 40 hours of work per week.
+ Compensation varies by location, skills and experience

The annual salary range for this position is $109,400.00-$218,700.00. Compensation decisions depend on a wide range of factors, including but not limited to skill sets, experience and training, security clearances, licensure and certifications, and other business and organizational needs.
