Position Details

Perform first response service for building/utilities trades equipment and systems (i.e. emergency calls and service calls). Provide assessment of situation and repair or contact appropriate personnel if situation mandates licensed repairs. Perform preventative maintenance service for all building trades. Access information utilizing computer software programs. Promote a work place that encourages safety within the shop and in the field. Operate a University vehicle to transport materials, tools, and equipment. May be required to operate an aerial lift. Reports to Utilities Trades Supervisor/Zone Manager.

Minimum Qualifications (or equivalent combination of education and experience)

High school diploma, vocational training in HVAC /plumbing and electrical trades and three years’ trades experience required. Ability to make independent judgments in assessing and planning work required. Experience using computers and mobile technology required. Valid driver’s license or ability to obtain, and driver’s check required. Specific physical requirements may apply based on job functions. Must wear appropriate Personal Protective Equipment ( PPE ) when performing specific job functions. Initial employment contingent upon successful completion of background check.

Schedule is 11 PM – 7 AM, shifts starting Saturday through Wednesday nights

Special Conditions Weekend work required, Bargaining Unit Position – United Electrical Workers, Occasional overtime/weekend hours required, External candidates must complete a 4-month probationary period, A probationary period may be required for current UVM employees, 2nd and/or 3rd shift, 40 hour work week, A probationary period may be required FLSA Non-Exempt Payband Min (Represents full-time (12 months, 1.0 FTE) equivalent salary. Must be prorated for jobs less than 12 months or 1.0FTE (Salary/12 x # of months x FTE)) 18.83 Payband Max (Represents full-time (12 months, 1.0 FTE) equivalent salary.
